Position Title:

External Description:

This position will be primarily responsible for production floor support and process improvement for the assembly of complex, tight tolerance components utilizing automated assembly equipment including power and free conveyor systems, robotics, and vision systems. Additional responsibilities include procurement of new equipment to support capacity uplifts and new programs as well as quoting of new business.

This position plans and conducts work requiring judgment in independent evaluations, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. This requires devising new approaches to problems encountered.

  • Process owner of a designated assembly department.Fully responsibility for a department that provides a reliable, stable, and sustainable process as it relates to machinery, gaging, quality, tooling, capacity, and documentation, etc.
  • Leads new product launch activities for manufacturing process development and hand-over to plant staff including:
    • Manufacturing Process Development: writing RFQ, lead design process with vendors, attend Factory Acceptance Test at vendor's facility, lead equipment installation activities
    • Hand-Over to Plant: Documentation (work instructions, PFEMA, Red Rabbit specs, drawing package, technical manual, spare parts list, etc.) coordinate spare part to MRO system fulfillment and quality gauge procurement
  • Supports operations in the areas of safety concerns, quality investigations, machine downtime and first pass yield by collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop solutions
  • Initiate activities to identify cost reduction opportunities in the manufacturing process and drive actions as needed
  • Track open 8D's and drive to closure
  • Works with product engineering team on "design for manufacturing" to ensure product designs align with manufacturing processes effectively
  • Manages documentation updates including work instructions and PFMEA



Minimum Requirements
• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering or Industrial Systems Engineering or related engineering discipline.
•5+ Years' experience required

Preferred Requirements
• Masters Degree in Engineering and experience in the automotive industry is preferred

Additional Information:

  • Travel is occasionally required, up to 5% of the time.


Safety and Physical Requirements:

  • All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding, and complying with the safety policies and procedures.
  • Required to work in a production floor environment working with and around heavy machinery, powered industrial trucks, etc.
  • May be required to trial manufacturing station operations.
  • Wear PPE when appropriate in designated campus areas.
  • Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs. on occasion.
